In recognition of Thornton Wilder and his generous legacy to MacDowell, the Board of Directors established this Fellowship in his name for an artist of any discipline. Wilder was a nine-time Colony Fellow, as well as the first recipient of the Edward MacDowell Medal in 1960.
In memory of the best-selling novelist the Rona Jaffe Foundation endowed a Fellowship for an emerging woman writer. Emergent writers are defined as those who have yet to publish a standard trade edition of their work. It includes a stipend of $2,500.
