William Nathaniel Banks is a four-time Colony Fellow writer and currently the longest standing member of MacDowell’s Board of Directors, having served since 1966. He served as MacDowell’s Vice President from 1974-1982 and has been a Vice Chairman since 1987. He is also an art historian, author, and lecturer, specializing in historic communities and architecture, whose work is featured regularly in the magazine Antiques. He earned degrees at Dartmouth and Yale and divides his time between his family’s historical properties in Newnan, GA, and Temple, NH where he serves as caretaker and resident scholar.
