Theresa Hackett was born in Los Angeles; studied art at College of Creative Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB); moved to New York City and attended graduate school at Hunter College. Shortly after receiving a M.F.A. from Hunter, she began showing in New York City, Los Angeles, and Europe. Hackett was the recipient of a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant and New York Foundation for the Arts grant in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts in 2009. She was nominated several times for a Joan Mitchell Award, attended The Fountainhead Residency in Miami, and Venice, Italy for a large format printmaking residency. Hackett has had numerous one-person shows and participated in many group shows and museum projects, such as the Contemporary Museum of Art in Baltimore, "NewView", Window installation. She has curated at least seven substantial group shows and has lectured extensively about her work at universities and galleries.
