Theo Anthony is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker. His work been featured by The New York Times, The Atlantic, New Yorker, BBC World News, and other international media outlets. His films have received premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, SXSW, and Anthology Film Archives. In 2015, he was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film”. His first feature, Rat Film, was released by Cinema Guild and Visit Films in 2017 to critical acclaim, with Richard Brody of the New Yorker calling it “one of the most extraordinary, visionary inspirations in the recent cinema”. In 2018 he was named a Science Sandbox Fellow, a grant funded by the Sundance Institute and the Simons Foundation to support artists pursuing creative practices challenging the boundaries of art and science.

At MacDowell in 2018, he began editing his new feature, All Light, Everywhere, an essay film investigating the political nature of what we see through the tools, beliefs, and practices of how we see.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
