Takahiro Yamamoto is an artist and choreographer based in Portland, OR. He has produced original performances and visual artworks nationally and internationally. His approach to choreography is interpersonal and observational. He is a graduate of Pacific Northwest College of Art with an M.F.A. in visual studies. He co-directs a performance company madhause with Ben Evans, and is part of the Portland-based support group Physical Education with Allie Hankins, keyon gaskin, and Lu Yim. In residence, he engaged in two projects: He developed dramaturgical research, through writing, reading, and movement practice, for Opacity of Performance -- a durational performance work in collaboration with Portland Art Museum, which will premiere in Fall 2020. In addition, he completed design and concept for an exhibition of sculpture installation Hanging River, a collaboration with a Portland-based glass sculptor, which will be exhibited at Williamson Knight gallery in Portland, OR (April 2019) and Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, OR (January 2020).
