Sue Slagle (SUE-C) is a video and technology-based. She uses a combination of photography, video, and programming in max and miniature lighting effects to create cinematic experiences live on stage. Past collaborators have included Laetitia Sonami, Morton Subotnick, and AGF. Her live films have been performed at SF MoMA, RedCat, San Francisco International Film Festival, and EMPAC. A self-named "textural technologist" she aims to strike a balance between handmade and computer manipulated imagery.
During her residency, she collaborated with Jibz Cameron on a live film and performance piece called Titanic Depression. They researched historical documents of the sinking of the Titanic, reviewed the James Cameron film, and found inspiration in the library, other Fellows, and current events. After brainstorming and road-mapping an outline of the evening-length show (to premiere at Pioneer Works, NYC in April 2021) the artists mocked up several scenes in the studio. While in residence the announcement of their 2020 Creative Capital Award for the same project, was made public.
