Patty Crane is a poet and translator whose book reviews, essays, and award-winning poetry have been published in numerous journals and anthologies. Bright Scythe, her translations of Swedish poet and Nobel laureate Tomas Tranströmer, was recently released to much acclaim. “The best English translation of Tranströmer,” according to The New York Times. Crane worked on the collection in Calderwood Studio. At MacDowell in 2019, she translated four full-length Tranströmer collections. She aims to translate his complete poetic works. Her translations have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, PEN Poetry Series, American Poetry Review, Blackbird, Poetry Daily, Trafika Europe, and elsewhere. Her poetry collection Bell I Wake To won the Zone 3 Press First Book Award and will be released in November 2019. She lives in the Berkshires.
