Moses Sumney has ridden a wave of word-of-mouth praise and dynamic live performances around the world and alongside forebears like David Byrne, Karen O, and Sufjan Stevens since emerging in 2014 with his self-released cassette EP, Mid-City Island. His 2017 debut album Aromanticism, was a concept record about lovelessness as a sonic dreamscape that graced the end-of-year lists of tastemaker hubs like NPR, Spin, and Pitchfork. The sophomore follow-up to that record is due to be released soon.

At MacDowell, he composed and recorded music toward his third album. He also commenced work on his first film script.
