Michael Harrison is a composer and pianist. While at The MacDowell Colony, he worked on composing a work entitled "Modular 1" to be performed by any group of instruments and vocalists. Time Loops, a CD of his works, was released in October 2012 on Bang on a Can's Cantaloupe Music label, and features cellist Maya Besier, Harrison and the Young People's Chorus of New York City, along with a DVD of a film by Bill Morrison created to the music. His previous CD Revelation: Music in Pure Intonation was selected by The New York Times, Boston Globe and Time Out New York as one of the Best Classical Recordings of the year. In 2011, he collaborated with French artist Loris Greaud to create "The Bragdon Pavilion" as part of the Paris-Delhi-Bombay exhibit at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Michael has extensive training in Northern Indian classical vocal music and alternate tuning systems.
