In addition to working on this swimming technique at Cunningham Pond, Micah Lexier developed work for two upcoming exhibitions during his first MacDowell Fellowship. The work would be exhibited at the Toronto Sculpture Garden from September 2001 to April 2002, and at the Weise Gallery in Sydney, Australia in November 2001. During his 2002 Fellowship, he prepared work for two exhibitions that would open in the spring of 2003 at the Robert Birea Gallery, Toronto; and the Jack Shainman Gallery, New York. A public commission for a new subway station would open in the fall of 2002. In 2004, he worked on a variety of projects, some of which would be shown at the Dazibao Gallery in Montreal and the Gitte Weise Gallery in Berlin. He had recently completed a commission to produce an award/sculpture that would be presented at the Olympic Summer Games in Athens.

Wood

Micah Lexier worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
