Maya Ciarrocchi is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist working across media in drawing, printmaking, performance, video, installation, and social practice. Through personal narrative, storytelling, and mapmaking, her projects unearth disappeared histories and document manifestations of loss. She has received grants from The Franklin Furnace Fund, The Jerome Foundation, The MAP Fund and the Mertz Gilmore Foundation and residences and fellowships from the Baryshnikov Arts Center, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Gibney, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Millay Colony, the UCross Foundation and Wave Hill. In addition to her studio practice, she is a TONY, Bessie, and Jeff Award winning projection designer for dance and theater.
While at MacDowell she developed video, prints and drawings for Site: Yizkor, an interdisciplinary project that explores the physical and emotional manifestation of loss though text, video, and music.
