Matt Burgermaster makes work focused on the advancement of architecture as a unique form of spatial practice and material production that is deeply entangled with cultural concerns and environmental processes. His design office, MABU, received the New Practices New York award in 2018.

At MacDowell, Matt created a series of drawings that explore architecture’s relation to permanence and processes of re-making. These drawings initiate a research project on architecture in the era of the Anthropocene and were based upon a design project called “Unbuilding Long Branch” which was recognized by awards from the Boston Society of Architects and the American Institute of Architects, New Jersey Chapter.
