Margaret Honda worked on the score for an experimental film to be shot in 35mm in Summer 2019. While at MacDowell, she also began preparations for one-person exhibitions to be held at the Carnegie Museum of Art in 2019 and the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020/2021.

Her films, which include the 70mm short Spectrum Reverse Spectrum and the real-time digital projection 6144 x 1024" have screened in festivals and institutions including the Berlinale, Whitney Museum, Hammer Museum, Courtisane, REDCAT, TIFF, and BFI London Film Festival. Recent one-person exhibitions include KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Treize, Paris; Visitor Welcome Center, Los Angeles; Künstlerhaus Bremen; and Triangle France, Marseille.

Margaret Honda worked in the Nef studio.

Nef Studio, the first entirely new studio built after 1937, was donated by esteemed photographer, explorer, author, and MacDowell Fellow Evelyn Steffanson Nef in 1992. Endowed funds for the studio’s maintenance in perpetuity and an annual Fellowship for photographers were given in addition to funds for construction.
