Madeline ffitch writes and organizes in Appalachian Ohio. She is the author of the novel Stay And Fight, which was called "electrifying" by Oprah magazine and was one of The New York Times' "9 Books to Watch out for in July (2019)." She is also the author of the short story collection Valparaiso, Round the Horn. Her writing has appeared in Tin House, Electric Literature, Granta, Guernica, and VICE.

At MacDowell, she worked on her second novel Noctiluca, and a short story, “The Life Cycle Assessment.”

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Madeline ffitch worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
