Joshua Marston’s most recent film, Complete Unknown (starring Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon), had its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, where it was picked up for theatrical release by Amazon Studios. Marston’s first film, Maria Full of Grace, won the Audience Award at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, the New York Film Critics Circle award for Best First Film and the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay. His second film, The Forgiveness of Blood (available on the Criterion Collection), premiered at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival, where it was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay. Marston also directed the Coney Island section of New York I Love You, starring Cloris Leachman and Eli Wallach, and has directed episodes of The Newsroom, Six Feet Under, American Crime, Law & Order, In Treatment, and The Good Wife. He is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship (2014) and earned an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago as well as an M.F.A. in filmmaking from New York University.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
