Joel Agee is an American writer who spent much of his youth in an East German village with his mother. Although the pair returned to the west just weeks before the Berlin Wall was erected, the experience continues to influence his writing. His father was James Agee, the noted writer and journalist, who died while Joel was still living in Germany. Joel decided to become a writer after reading his father’s work. He currently lives in Brooklyn.
