Jiehae Park is a playwright and performer. Her plays include peerless (written at MacDowell in 2014, premiered at Yale Rep in 2015, NY premiere at Primary Stages in 2022), Hannah and the Dread Gazebo, Here We Are Here (first full draft completed at MacDowell in 2018), The Aves, and contributions to Wondrous Strange. She has also received commissions from Playwrights Horizons, Yale Rep, Geffen, OSF, Williamstown, and MTC/Sloan.

Her work has been developed through the Soho Rep Writer-Director Lab, the Public’s Emerging Writers Group, Sundance, p73’s i73, CTG Writers Workshop, NYTW, Atlantic, Old Globe, Dramatists Guild Fellowship, Ojai Conference, BAPF, and the amazing Ma-Yi Writers Lab.

Her awards include a Steinberg, Leah Ryan, Princess Grace, Weissberger, ANPF Women’s Invitational, Blackburn Finalist, and two years on the Kilroys List. She has had residencies and Fellowships at MacDowell, Yaddo, Hedgebrook, McCarter/Sallie B. Goodman, Tow, Hodder, Lincoln Center Theater, and others.

As a performer, she has appeared in Ripe Time/Naomi Iizuka's adaption of Murakami's SLEEP (BAM, Yale Rep) and Celine Song’s ENDLINGS (NYTW, ART). Television writing includes HELLO TOMORROW! (Apple+) and Marvel's RUNAWAYS (Hulu).

During her 2022 MacDowell Fellowship, Park worked on a new play commission about the commodification of storytelling.

Studios

Mixter

Jiehae Park worked in the Mixter studio.

Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio, solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
