Gabriel Fried is the author of two books of poetry, The Children Are Reading and Making the New Lamb Take. His poems have appeared widely in American Poetry Review, American Scholar, Kenyon Review, Paris Review, Yale Review, and elsewhere. He was in residence at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Summer, 2019. At MacDowell most recently, he wrote poems toward his third collection, tentatively titled Schoolyard Evangel. A selection of from that manuscript recently appeared in American Poetry Review.

Chapman

Gabriel Fried worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
