Dionne Ford's writing has appeared in The New York Times, More, Ebony, TheRumpus, LiteraryMama, and Brain, Child among other publications. The More essay won a National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Award and a Newswomen's Club of New York Front Page Award. TheRumpus essay appeared in the anthology Soul Mate 101 and Other Essays on Love and Sex.

A graduate of New York University's Creative Writing Program, her work has been supported by grants from the Sustainable Arts Foundation and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and writing fellowships to MacDowell, Hedgebrook, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. While at MacDowell, she completed a draft of a memoir, Finding Josephine.

She is represented by Duvall Osteen at Aragi, Inc. in New York and lives in New Jersey with her husband and daughters.

Marian MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his life.
