Daniel Duford is a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow, a recipient of a 2012 Art Matters Grant, and a 2010 Hallie Ford Fellow. In 2013 he presented Ringing the Temple Bell at Queer New York Art Festival. His published works include the graphic novels The Unfortunates with Ramiz Monsef, The Naked Boy, The Green Man of Portland, and Wellspring: Poems 1993-2003. His work has been shown at MASS MoCA, The Atlanta Center for Contemporary Art, Maryhill Museum, Bellevue Arts Museum, Clay Studio, The Boise Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Crafts, PICA, and The Schneider Museum of Art. His writing has appeared in High Desert Journal, Parabola, Artweek, and ARTnews. In residence, he created a series of large scale watercolors called "John Brown's Vision on he Scaffold." The work will be expanded for an exhibition in 2020 at the Hoffman Gallery for Contemporary Art in Portland, OR. The work will also be the basis of a graphic novel of the same name. He received a fellowship from the Balboni Family Trust in 2017 to begin this work.
