Clarisse Baleja Saïdi is a Canadian writer of Congolese and Rwandan descent, born and raised in Côte d’Ivoire. She obtained her M.F.A. from the University of Michigan’s Helen Zell Writers’ Program and was a 2022-23 fiction fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center. Baleja has received support from MacDowell, Yaddo, Hedgebrook, Art OMI and more, as well as grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council, and more, for her fiction and nonfiction.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
