Charlotte Algie is a designer from Melbourne, Australia based in New York. She received her B.Arch. from RMIT and M.Arch. from Yale School of Architecture as a H.I.Feldman Prize Nominee and winner of the KPF Travelling Fellowship. She has recently taught at RMIT, MSD, and Syracuse University School of Architecture visiting design faculty, and previously was a teaching fellow at the UdK Berlin and Yale School of Architecture. She has practiced in the offices of Pelli Clarke Pelli, Christian Kerez, and Atelier Mendini. Her scholarly writing and design projects have been published in Perspecta, Domus, AD, Frame, and Architecture Australia. Her work has been exhibited at the Biennale di Venezia and Documenta 13.

At MacDowell, Charlotte developed an installation commission focused on metamaterial.

Cheney

Charlotte Algie worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
