A playwright, poet, and educator, Candrice has been honored to have been a fellow at Callaloo for poetry at Brown University and London. She has also been a VONA Playwriting Fellow, Ground Floor 2018 resident, and Calarts M.F.A. critical studies recipient. Candrice’s primary goal as a writer is to write love letters for and to women of the American South. She is the author of the full-length plays Crackbaby and FLEX. Candrice also serves as board member of The Weekend Theater as the educational outreach specialist as well as Ozark Living Newspaper. In the summer of 2018, Candrice was a resident at Ground Floor where she developed FLEX.

While at MacDowell, she polished FLEX, which was showcased at the Bay Area Playwrights' Festival in July 2019 where she was named a finalist. She also completed the first draft of a play currently titled From Mouth to Water. Candrice recently was given the 2018 Arkansas Arts Council Individual Arts Playwriting Fellowship.

Veltin

Candrice Jones worked in the Veltin studio.

Veltin Studio was donated by alumni of the Veltin School, a school for girls in New York with a highly respected visual arts department. As the plaque just outside the entrance attests, this studio was used by poet Edwin Arlington Robinson during most of the 24 summers he spent at MacDowell.
