Bridget Mullen makes figurative paintings and sculptures that at first glance appear to be entirely abstract. She has attended residencies at The Jan Van Eyck Academie, The Lighthouse Works, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Roswell Artist-In-Residence Program, The Fine Arts Work Center, VCCA, and Yaddo. Mullen has participated in group shows at DC Moore Gallery, New York; Thierry Goldberg, New York; Kopeikin Gallery, Los Angeles; L21, Mallorca, Spain; and has had solo shows at Annet Gelink Gallery in Amsterdam, and Satellite Contemporary in Las Vegas, among others. She was a 2017-2018 recipient of a studio from the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program and is a 2018-2019 participant in Shadaken Paint School. While at MacDowell, Mullen continued work on paintings about interpersonal connections and thresholds. Prior paintings in the series were featured in a solo show at Helena Anrather in January of 2019.
