Becca Albee is a visual artist born in Portland, Maine and currently living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is primarily photo-based but also includes sculpture, video, scent, and performance. Her work has been presented at 356 S. Mission Rd, Los Angeles; Cleopatra’s, New York & Berlin; ICA, Philadelphia; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; and Art in General, New York. She is a MacDowell fellow, a Yaddo fellow, and has received residencies from the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Fundacion Botin, Blue Mountain Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Albee is currently an associate professor of photography at The City College of New York, CUNY. While at MacDowell in the summer of 2019, she worked on a List Projects solo exhibition to take place at MIT List Visual Arts Center in Cambridge, MA to show from December 12, 2019-February 9, 2020. Albee created an exhibition plan, edited video, made photographs, and printed in the Nef darkroom for her MIT List exhibition.

Nef Studio, the first entirely new studio built after 1937, was donated by esteemed photographer, explorer, author, and MacDowell Fellow Evelyn Steffanson Nef in 1992. Endowed funds for the studio’s maintenance in perpetuity and an annual Fellowship for photographers were given in addition to funds for construction.
