Andrea Bussmann, born in Toronto, Canada, earned her M.A. in social anthropology and an M.F.A. in film production. After completing her degrees, she directed He Whose Face Gives No Light. She produced and edited the short film Three Walls and the feature Harvest Moon. In 2016, she co-directed Tales of Two Who Dreamt, which premiered at the Berlinale Forum and went on to be selected at many international festivals. The film was awarded the best documentary at the Festival International de Films de Femmes in 2017. Her latest film Fausto, premiered in 2018 at the Locarno International Film Festival, made its North American premiere at TIFF, and New York premiere at New Directors/New Films. The film won the Best Latin Feature at The Mar del Plata International Film Festival. She was awarded the Discovery Award by The Directors Guild of Canada in 2018.

She worked on two projects while at MacDowell, a screenplay for a new film entitled Children of the Snow, and a film currently in production entitled Skin of the Sky.

Chapman

Andrea Bussmann worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
