Best-selling Author and Visual Artist Nell Painter Appointed Chair of MacDowell Colony Board of Directors
Nell Painter, the author of The New York Times bestseller The History of White People and the 2018 National Book Critics Circle Award finalist Old In Art School, is The MacDowell Colony’s new chairman of the board. She takes over from novelist and screenwriter Michael Chabon, who has held the post since December of 2010.Read more

Seventy-six percent of the upcoming artists-in-residence are first-time Fellowship awardees and come from 21 states and seven countries. The incoming Fellows reflect seven artistic disciplines and will arrive from locales as far apart as Poland, Mexico, Belgium, and Israel, as well as Tennesee, Washington, and Minnesota.Read more
