Chairman's Evening

“Whether you can change things or not, that does not relieve you of responsibility. You have to fight.”

– Ta-Nehisi Coates

This exclusive annual member event brings together two iconic artists of our time to engage in the kind of high-octane conversation about creativity that takes place at the Colony every day.

On Monday, December 5, 2016 Ta-Nehisi Coates and Lena Dunham joined Michael Chabon on stage at the New Museum in NY for an electric conversation about creativity, politics, and the lasting impact of their mutual mentor David Carr.

This year’s Chairman’s Evening participants, journalist, National Book Award-winner, comic book superhero, (and MacDowell Fellow!) Ta-Nehisi Coates and Bestselling author, feminist, and HBO showrunner wunderkind Lena Dunham joined our fearless leader, Chairman of the Board and Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Michael Chabon in the kind of high-octane conversation about creativity that takes place at the Colony every day.

The Chairman’s Evening is a membership program and reception for the Friends of MacDowell, who make a total annual commitment of $2,500 or more per person, or $5,000 for a dual membership. To join the Friends, contact John Martin by email or phone at 212-535-9690.
