Introduction

A Centennial is certainly a milestone to celebrate.  For MacDowell, it’s also a tremendous opportunity to advance understanding of the Colony’s mission. 

In 2007, The MacDowell Colony celebrates the first 100 years of its history by paying tribute to the value of creativity. 

The MacDowell Colony’s Centennial book and original film, the Library of Congress’ exhibition on the Colony, the Symphony Space MacDowell Marathon , and performances and exhibitions of Colony Fellows' work across the country will make the Centennial celebration of MacDowell as memorable and varied as the artists who come to the Colony to do their creative work.  Creative freedom is at their core, as it is at MacDowell’s.  Please join us in this joyful, thoughtful celebration.
