Community Events
In addition to the regular outreach programs, many artists get involved with the community in other ways. Some of those activities are listed below. It should be noted that Colony Fellows sharing their work outside of the residency period are not listed. Oftentimes, MacDowell artists return to New Hampshire and the Monadnock region for readings, concerts, and other events.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PETERBOROUGH TOWN LIBRARY
In 2002, MacDowell initiated a program to provide Colony Fellows’s books, CDs, and videos to the Peterborough Town Library. Artists who donate their work to MacDowell's Savidge Library are encouraged to include a second copy to make available to the public through Peterborough’s wonderful library. So far, several hundred works have been added to the public library’s collection. Each item is labeled to indicate it is a donation from a MacDowell Colony Fellow. Peterborough Town Library Director, Michael Price, noted, “These are books you would not normally see at the library. It's a significantly different collection than normally purchased. It dovetails nicely with the existing collection.”
